Ir. Mohd Faizal Atan
Ir. Mohd Faizal Atan, P.Eng and C.PEng, pursued his tertiary education at the University of Portsmouth and Heriot Watt University, United Kingdom where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Construction Project Management respectively.
He later obtained a Certificate of Civil Engineering in Intelligent Transport System from Imperial College London.
Faizal is a registered Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate from the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Corporate Member with the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) since 2007, a Chartered Engineer with the National Engineering Registration Board of Australia and a Chartered Professional Engineer with the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEA). He is also an International Professional Engineer with EMF and a Corporate Member of the Asia Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC) Engineer.
Faizal started his career in the construction field with Peremba Holdings Sdn Bhd in 1998 for a year before moving on to Minconsult Sdn Bhd, a leading engineering consultancy firm in Malaysia. His role as the Deputy General Manager for Bridge & Marine Division at Minconsult included planning, management, coordination, liaison, project proposals and design control to clients. In 2017, he joined PROLINTAS, a highway concession and was task to handle the SUKE project.
He has extensive experience in multi scale infrastructure projects which involved the construction of highways and bridges such as PLUS Highway Widening, East–West Highway, East Coast Expressway, ECERDC Bukit Kuang Bridge, Kuantan Bypass Highway and Pan Borneo (Sarawak) Highway. He was also involved in railway projects such as Petronas Kuantan–Kerteh Railway, Ipoh–Rawang Double Tracking Railway, Ipoh–Padang Besar Double Tracking Railway, Kelana Jaya LRT Extension and Petaling Jaya – Port Klang LRT. Involved in providing expertise as Independent Consulting Engineer (ICE) for reviewing Penang Second Bridge Crossing, Security Printing Plant in Bukit Tagar & West Port Container Terminal 3 Project and also involved in the Feasibility Sudy and Preliminary Design for MRT Line 3 Project for Mass Rapid Transit Corporation and High Speed Rail Kuala Lumpur – Singapore Project for Ministry of Transport.
At the international front, he was assigned to manage the Campbell Bridge–Mulgowie Road Project in Brisbane, Australia for the Department of Transport Main Roads (DTMR) and also provided engineering design support for highway rehabilitation projects in Afghanistan from Balkh to Andkoy (182 Km) and from Kandahar to Spin Boldak under Asian Development Bank (ADB). He also involved in the Road Employment Project for Settlement and Integration of Returning Refugees and Displaced Persons of Afghanistan (a joint venture with Sheladia Accociates Inc. USA), National Trade Corridor (NTC) Khanewal – Lodhran Expressway Project in Pakistan and Jakarta LRT Phase 1 Project from Pengasaan Dua to Velodrome, Indonesia.
